AAP assisted Hilcorp Alaska in the emergency production and delivery of 535 Pre-cast Concrete “Armor” Blocks to provide erosion control protection at Northstar Island. Late in 2018, Hilcorp identified an underwater area of the Island, where the Armor blocks had separated and the underlying gravel island was exposed to ice and water damage and potential erosion.

Hilcorp had to procure enough blocks to repair the damaged area in a very short time, as the blocks had to be transported across the Northstar Ice Road in Spring of 2019. The blocks would have to be designed, poured, cured, and transported within 90 days.

AAP hit the job at full speed, fabricating new forms, developing a high strength 8,000 psi mix, and setting up a production facility to cast the blocks. We completed the project 2 weeks ahead of schedule, and all the blocks made it to Prudhoe in time to be taken across the ice road.
